Come one, come all, March Madness is back! So whether you asked for it or not, Break Room Small Talk has returned to help guide you through conversations about collegiate basketball contests that you may or may not have watched.
No matter where you fall on the scale of “well-versed in conference realignment” to “go sports!”, you’ll find a rundown of five talking points sitting in your inbox after each day of tournament games to help you ease into a Friday morning Zoom call, break the silence in the office microwave line, or impress your grandson.
The Men’s NCAA Tournament begins in earnest this Thursday with the Women’s Tournament getting underway on Friday. We’ll tee you up with what to watch for later this week, but on this fine Monday morning, we’re offering a simple public service announcement: Don’t March Alone.
March Madness is meant to be enjoyed with others, so we have three simple steps to help you prepare for the best three weeks of the basketball year.
1. Make sure you’re signed up for the Break Room Small Talk Newsletter
If you received this post via email, you are way ahead of the game. If you are here by some other means, subscribe!
Say something like: “Am I signed up for the Break Room Small Talk, the most enjoyable and digestible email content I’ll receive all month?”
2. Join the Break Room Small Talk Bracket Challenge
Open yourself up to some friendly competition by entering the Break Room Small Talk bracket challenge. We have a group set up for both the Men’s Tournament and the Women’s Tournament. The password for each is Marchtogether
Say something like: “Last year I picked Purdue to win it all and they lost in the first round to Fairleigh Dickinson. Why should I trust them this year?”
3. Tell your friends, your cubicle mate and your mom about Break Room Small Talk
Do you know someone else that could use cheeky quips about college basketball in their life? Send them the newsletter!
Say something like: “Benji, your small talk at pickleball this week could be greatly enhanced if you read Break Room Small Talk.”
